The & Partnership have recently expanded into Canada and asked Studio Buschow to further develop the design approach and aesthetic we began in the New York office. The chosen space was a recently added roof extension added to an existing 19th C timber-structured warehouse.
Our approach to the laying out of the constituent parts always puts staff first so the areas with optimal daylight we immediately identified for workstations and shared open spaces. In the centre of the space (the darkest area) those functions requiring a degree of enclosure were collected together to create a volume around which views and movement in the agency flowed.
The & Partnership aesthetic was developed in Toronto by combing the simple dialogue of black and white with a selection of raw materials that includes a polished concrete floor, exposure of the vermiculite-clad roof trusses in the open areas, black-stained timber on the meeting volume, and white diamond-shaped steel tiles on the walls and roof of the boardroom.
In addition to space design Studio Buschow either designed with local suppliers or selected all the furniture and fittings for the new space.
